How do I help my vulnerable parents from afar?

If you live far- away from your parent (within the state, in another state or another country), my Care Assistant will provide supportive care for your loved ones. You can arrange for one of my Care Assistants to help with caring for them and supporting their healthcare needs. It is our duty to make caring for your loved ones seamless.

I am a caregiver; how do I make older person’s home safer?

My Mum is 78 and has a storke 9 weeks ago. She is about to be discharged and will be coming home. How do I make the house more accessible for her new condition?

Answer

A multidisciplinary team approach will help to provide post-discharge support. It is recommended you contact My Care Assistant prior to his or her discharge. We provide supportive discharge planning for clients who require a major change/shift  to their way of living and help them to adjust comfortably to their new living condition.

I am new to caregiving, where do I start?

Providing supportive care can be overwhelming especially if your new to the experience. It is easier to take it one task at a time and be willing to ask for help when necessary.

It is best if you assess the type of care your loved ones require. Look for resources in your community such as supportive caregiving services. It is also a helpful practice to learn about payment option for care of you or your loved ones.

What type of certification do I need to become a caregiver?

Basic Caregiver Certification

What other opportunities are available to me as a caregiver?

What procedures are in place to handle emergencies?

In the event of any emergencies, the client has the responsibility to put an emergency contact list in place like the clients registered hospital, nearest care provider, doctor-in-charge of care for ease of care transferability.

What is the pay rate for a care assistant?

What do I do if I suspect an older person is being maltreated?

Vulnerable people are prone to abuse, no matter the individual’s age, sex, race or ethnic background. Abuse can be physical, sexual, emotional, financial and can happen at home, a healthcare facility or online. Protect your vulnerable persons from abuse and for more information visit local advocacy sites.

Where can I use my caregiver certification course to work?

Can I relocate abroad with my caregiver certificate?

Yes, provided you have at least 6 months experience working as a caregiver in your home country.

Do you allow refunds for any course?

While we do not permit refund, we have made provision for you to be certified with our international certification body. You may wish to defer your course and examination to a later date within 60 days of your deferment. You will need to put this in formal writing and send to co*****@my*************.ng
